3D-Electron Beam Joining Technology
Characteristic for today's conventional production of pressure-bearing fittings are preferably drawing-based casting and forging steel constructions in project-specific single and small series production, accompanied by a high level of quality-assuring and quality-producing processes as well as high material use and long delivery times. Based on electron beam welding technology and in combination with production preparation by means of 5-axis milling technology, 3D electron beam welding allows for a completely new approach to the production of pressure-bearing components with complicated geometric shapes.
This network was implemented in order to develop prototypes for molded parts and valve housings that can be used to manufacture joints without a welding filler material. Several small and medium-sized enterprises and research partners worked together to solve these problems. The "3D-Electron Beam Joining Technology" project was funded by the federal Central Innovation Program for SMEs (ZIM) as a Network Management East (NEMO) project. The results generated from the network have already been implemented in the participating companies and prevail in practice.
