Recovery of valuable materials from vegetable oil

Vegetable oils are renewable raw materials used for the production of biofuels and basic materials in the chemical industry. However, vegetable oils also contain accompanying substances in low concentrations (so-called "minor components"). These can either be harmful or valuable substances. Industrial practice rarely capitalizes on these valuable substances. Thus, a considerable value-added potential remains unused.

A network of companies and research institutes aims at creating the prerequisites for exploiting potential economic benefits of these minor components. For this purpose, procedural and plant engineering questions are answered from different perspectives, the basic processes for the extraction of valuable material are enhanced and introduced into technical processes or plants.

Further information on the network can be found at http://www.wertvolles-aus-pflanzenoel.de.
